Fine quality Regency period mahogany metamorphic library chair after a patented design by Morgan and Sanders, Catherine St, London, with moulded tablet top rail, scrolled arms and moulded front rail, raised on sabre legs, opening to form a set of leather treaded library steps. The firm of Morgan and Sanders specialised in metamorphic and campaign furniture and held patents on many designs including library steps such as these and supplied furniture to the Royal Household. Circa 1810. Refer to the book 'Regency Furniture' by Frances Collard Page 20/21 for a similar example.
