Product Information

Wonderful mahogany William IV Reclining Library Armchair with pull out foot rest.Newly upholstered in black/chocolate leather. This chair was from a series of ideas that were formulated at the begining of the 19th century. There is no makers stamp on this chair but it is obviously imitating the patented 'Daws' reclining chair as depicted in 'Marked London Furniture' pages 175/6/7. This was patented in 1830.It has all the quality of a 'Daws' chair with the added refinement that when in reclining mode it has the addition of two springs which bring the back into the upright position when the action is activated. The back can be reclined in two degree increments as there are two metal gears in the arm with slots to adjust.
