Product Information

An Antique,William & Mary walnut chest. Figured walnut with ogee moulding to the top. The top veneer being quartered with incised herringbone quadrant inlay with cut corners.Finished to the outside edge with a three inch crossbanding with herringbone banding to the outside edge. Both ends being halved with a 2.5inch crossbanded border with mitred corners. The front having two short and three long drawers which are oaked lined fitted with the original steel lock.Flame veneers to the front running from top to bottom and are book matched.Divisions between the drawer raised thumbnail crossbanded moulding.Escutcheons to the drawers have a silhouette grotesque faces with a coronet to the top. The handles having star shaped hexagonal back plates with a decorated leaf drop. The base ogee crossbanded moulding above four bun feet (not original). All has good colour and patination. Circa 1695.
